Hi all,

I’m completely new to the concept of geodata and trying to get a basic understanding of what it actually includes and how it’s used. From what I’ve gathered so far, it seems to involve any kind of data that’s tied to a specific location, but I’d love a clearer explanation.

What are the most common types of geodata, and where is it typically sourced from? Are there standard formats or tools I should know about if I want to start working with it? I’m especially interested in how it’s used in areas like mapping, environmental monitoring, or public planning.

Any beginner-friendly resources, tools, or examples would be very appreciated. Just trying to find a good entry point.
